Europe is the world’s second smallest continent by surface area but it packs a serious punch when it comes to things to see and do. The main appeal of backpacking across Europe is that there are a lot of countries squashed into a tight space so you can experience a lot of different cultures in a limited period of time. Europe is rich in history because there have been some notorious ancient civilisations existing there throughout the ages namely the Romans and the Greeks. They have left behind many famous landmarks from the ancient world which have survived to this day such as the Colosseum in Rome and the Parthenon in Athens. Today Europe also boasts some of the world’s leading cities such as London, Paris, Berlin and Madrid so there is plenty to explore and a lot going on all year round. There is a good network of railways which allow ease of travel between countries and with many of them having the Euro as the currency backpacking Europe has never been easier.



Paris is one of the best cities for sights and sounds in the world. It has history, romance, famous landmarks and is a great place to visit en route to somewhere else or as a main stop.
